Activities & Calendar

We offer a wide variety of events for mothers and their children Monday through Friday during daytime hours.  We strive to offer a wide variety of events that will be of interest to moms of all age groups.

Annual Service Project
At least once a year, our chapter participates in a service project to help others and support our local communities.  In past years we have: had a bake sale to raise money for  The Great American Bake Sale; had a member's Breast Cancer 3 Day  walk; collected school supplies for schools servicing under privileged children; started a Lending Library; and collected non-perishable food and hygiene items for a local food pantry. If you have a fundraising idea or a charity you'd like us to consider, please talk to the Administrative Vice President (momsclubrosouth@gmail.com).

Local Activities
Members plan meetings at kid friendly locales around the area.  Past activities have included: the Madison Heights Nature Center, Romp & Stomp at the Kulick Center in Ferndale, the Zoo, the Doll Hospital, and Chuck E Cheese nights, among others.

MOMS Night Out (MNO)
One night per month, Moms go out without the kids. In the past we have done appetizers and wine at Holiday market, had dinner at various restaurants, meet up for a movie, and annual MOMS holiday cookie exchange.

Monthly Social & Business Meeting
On the second Thursday of each month, members gather for a group social and business meeting. During the business meeting portion of our social, we take care of issues that need to be voted on while the children play nearby. We will occasionally have guest speakers who speak for 30 minutes or less on a topic of interest to moms.

Park Dates
Members meet at local parks and kids play.  In the winter we also have sledding dates.  Themed park dates have included a Teddy Bear picnic!

Play Dates in Members' Homes
Various members host play dates in their homes.  Typically they are at 10am or 3:30pm and can have a theme or not.  Hosts have the option of putting an age limit (e.g. infants up to one year) or a space limit.  Normally, the host serve a light snack and something to drink. The moms come to your house and the kids get to play with different toys!  We encourage all members to host a few times throughout  the year and it need not be held at their home.

Parties
We love to celebrate and each year we plan several parties.  In the past these have included: a Halloween Costume Party, Moms Night Out Cookie Exchange, Valentine's Day Party, Easter Egg Hunt, and Family End of the Year Party.

Book Club
Our book club meets every other month to discuss a different book.  Meetings take place during the day, so children are always welcome.

Sunshine Meals
Sunshine Club meals are a benefit of membership for MOMS who need a little help after the birth of a child, health complications, surgery, etc.

Activities are added to the monthly calendar as members volunteer to host them. The above activities are typical ongoing activities.  They may change from time to time, based on members' interests and their willingness and availability to host.
